Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery manufactures
world class gas turbines and the world is our market. We offer products and
solutions to generate sustainable and power with a small environmental
footprint. Our customers are energy producers, independent power producers and
companies within the oil and gas business. We have the whole chain from
development, production, sales, and aftermarket to service. We are about 2600
employees and have revenue of 10 billion SEK.
Now we are looking for a master thesis student within machine learning starting
2020.
Project description
Title: Automated probabilistic evaluation of cyclic life of turbine blade using advanced machine learning techniques
To be able to increase the component life and service interval one way is to apply probabilistic tools to calculate the risks for example prolonging the service interval.
The probabilistic evaluation demands several FEM calculations with different variables that are varied, such as different temperatures outcomes and different material data. For some cases the calculation time could be several days. Since only one variable is changed at each time the number of calculations is set by the number of variables.
The object is to come up with an automatization for simulating and evaluating the component by using advanced machine learning techniques.
Who are you?
Master’s student in machine learning or similar with finite element analysis experience. It is a merit if you have previous experience of NX Nastran or similar Finite element analysis tool.
