Head of Credit Risk and Control Strategy i Stockholm

Group Credit Risk Control (GCRC) is looking to hire a Head of Credit Risk and Control Strategy who will report to the Head of Group Credit Risk Control.

The GCRC organization focuses on priority areas and development needs, such as:

  • Develop credit portfolio analysis and controls focusing on credit risk assessment
  • Improve credit risk reporting process and content
  • Ensure operational implementation and compliance with ECB requirements
  • Foster automation, data development and emergence of truly common Nordea credit processes
  • Strengthen readiness for ECB supervision
  • Strengthen credit control methodologies in line with external developments (climate change, ESG, ML/AI)

GCRC also further increases the quality and influence of its control activities to be able to respond to digitalization and other changes in the business environment.

The Credit Risk and Control Strategy unit focuses on developing the credit risk appetite and limit framework, and further developing credit control methodologies. More precisely, the unit is responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining Nordea’s Risk Appetite Framework (RAF) for credit risk
  • Interaction with business areas and Group Credit Risk Management on the credit risk limit framework and monitoring of the limit allocations
  • Drafting and participation in the formulation of credit risk strategies and policies
  • Development of the credit risk control framework (climate change, ESG, country/political risks, ML/AI opportunities)
  • Contributing to the development of the data-based risk assessment and control techniques in Nordea

 

The offer
The Head of Credit Risk and Control Strategy will be responsible for managing the unit as people leader and be a member of the GCRC management team.

 

Who are you

The ideal candidate will have sound credit risk control management experience coupled with high integrity and natural leadership skills. He/she will have very strong experience in developing quantitative and numerical data-driven risk management techniques and capability in driving development projects in these areas. He/she will have a proven capability of successfully developing the team to this strategic direction. He/she will also have excellent stakeholder management skills, be comfortable in front of senior executives and professionals and be an advocate of the importance of a strong risk culture and data-driven risk management and portfolio risk assessment within the bank.

You will also need:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience from finance/banking, or corresponding relevant experience from project management/management consulting
  • Strong strategic background and experience in credit risk management and subject matter areas of the unit
  • Very strong and proven knowledge of quantitative risk management techniques and data analysis
  • Proven ability to lead a team of experts and develop credit risk management and control
  • Experience in having previously interacted with the FSA on topics of high supervisory importance
  • Experience in banking business process creation and automation/digitalization as well as creation of the necessary data foundation
  • High motivation with a genuine ambition to drive change and strongly collaborative attitude
  • Stakeholder management is also key in this role. The successful candidate must have the capability and knowledge to influence and advise senior management within Nordea and operate on a genuine peer basis with key business stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, an individual capable of managing transformation, reshaping a team and providing motivational direction
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with proven ability to convey complex subject matter areas simply, creating enthusiasm for collaboration and ownership
  • Experience of operating in a highly visible role, internally and externally
  • Strong cultural awareness combined with a dynamic approach, willingness to take on extra responsibilities when needed
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • High ethical standards with demonstrated integrity, tact, and diplomacy
  • At minimum a relevant Master’s Degree in finance/economics or engineering
