Scope
2 students completing 30 credits (20 weeks) each.

This work is targeted for two students that have a good understanding of mechanical design and physics.

Background
Glass is used in a wide range of applications and there are several different types of glass with different kinds of coatings and tempering methods. There are many advantages to using glass, especially for outdoor applications, due to the high weatherability. How can glass be best utilized in Axis products?

Goal

• A deep dive into glass as a construction material. Investigate what types of glass, coatings and tempering methods are available and what are most relevant for Axis.
• Recommend types of glass and how to use them for Axis products (mainly door stations or readers), based on findings in the deep dive.
• Propose a glass construction, preferably as universal as possible, that can be re-used in different Axis products that require min. IK08. Mainly focusing on sheets of glass that can be used in door stations or readers.
