Are you ready for the challenge of supporting all brands, functions and countries within H&M group in the data privacy area?

H&M value privacy and personal data and has a global “Data Privacy Office” team responsible for the protection of the integrity of customers, employees and vendors across H&M group. The work in DP Office is vital to support a fast-moving business environment where H&M holds one of the industry’s largest data sets and has a range of initiatives in the AA/Advanced Analytics and AI/Amplified Intelligence area.

The role
As a Business Area Expert, you need to combine project management skills with the ability to educate, raise awareness and create understanding in the privacy area, with a privacy risk management capability. You work with a high degree of autonomy in your work day and will have plenty of opportunities to contribute in the many areas within H&M group where the business is in a state of constant change. In many cases personal information for customers, employees or vendors are managed, and in those scenarios the DP Office team contribute.

What you will do
The job of an H&M Business Area Expert comes with lots of responsibility, complexity and variety – and lots of fun. Your to do-list includes responsibility for:

1. How all aspects of privacy should be implemented in the H&M group
2. The reporting of privacy status and risks in H&M group
3. Performing privacy work for functions and countries

The Business Area Expert work in and for one or several functions and/or countries and is responsible for the management of privacy in that/those functions/countries together with the person that is DPC/Data Privacy Coordinator for each respective function or country.

A short list with some examples of responsibilities for the Business Area Expert:

  • Prepare information for privacy status and risk reporting to country managers, function heads, executive management.
  • Support the privacy process owners to stay compliant through privacy by design, Privacy registration form and by performing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA)
  • Support with reporting to authorities and information sharing and root cause analysis in relation to data breach incidents within the Functions/Countries.
  • Perform yearly reviews with respectively DP Office, Functions, Countries.
  • Execute privacy controls to ensure compliance within the Functions/Countries.
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Ensure that a Data Processing Agreement has been signed with all Data Processors.
Who you are
To be able to succeed in this role it is vital and are absolute requirements that you
1. Have substantial experience from practical privacy work
2. Have experience as a project lead or similar, i.e. from a role which was to progress a significant number of parallel activities with the ability to assess their business impact and priorities
3. have a can-do -attitude
4. have a service-minded approach
5. have an open and flexible mindset
6. you are a sales-minded, social, open, communicative and ambitious team player full of drive and optimism

Your personal qualities also include:
  • A good understanding of privacy law/regulations, and the need for the protection of the integrity of H&M’s customers, employees, and vendors.
  • Experience from business and/or IT risk management
  • Able to manage own priorities and actions/activities
  • Good at training, information sharing and communicating privacy topics in a way that builds understanding and trust amongst persons in a wide range of roles and backgrounds from both business and IT.
  • An understanding of the fashion retail industry.
There are several positions for this role, which allow for flexibility in adapting work responsibility to your interests and development goals. Focus could be in project management, awareness & training or review and support.
