The thesis work will take place at the business unit developing Saabs command and control systems. The command and control system is the brain at for example a warship, collecting information from multiple sensors, presenting the current situation, identifying and proposes actions to defend against incoming threats.
Vector tile technology is evolving fast in digital map industry. Vector tiles, tiled vectors or vectiles are packets of geographic data, packaged into pre-defined roughly-square shaped "tiles" for transfer over the web. This is an emerging method for delivering styled web maps, combining certain benefits of pre-rendered raster map tiles with vector map data.
This thesis will deal the questions:
How do we create custom tiles with our own or customers data?
What are the software alternatives for producing vector tiles?
Performance measurements are essential to evaluate the technology. Comparisons can be made to traditional raster tile technology. Open source components are preferable used in building geospatial services.
Your profilPreferably you have knowledge in Geographic Information Systems and Web Server Technology. Also you are able to configure services from GITHUB in different languages like C, RUST and be able to set up configuration in script languages like python or Bash. Good knowledge in Linux operating system is essential.
This work can be done by 1-2 students.

You will be part of the C2S unit who develop command & control systems for air, naval and land domains. The team you will join consists primarily engineers based in Järfälla. C2S is part of the Business Area Surveillance.
