Om tjänsten

A thesis project at Scania is an excellent way of developing new skills and making contacts for your future working life. Many of our current employees started their career with a thesis project.

Background:
Efficiency and emissions are the two crucial factors development engineers in the automotive business strives to improve. The proposed M.Sc. thesis project is a part of this continuous improvement towards a more sustainable Scania vehicle.

Target:
With tougher emission legislations comes decreasing margins for exhaust treatment control and need for improvements in the exhaust treatment system arises. Catalyst and filter models are valuable tools when developing new aftertreatment systems and integrating them with the engine. This requires models that captures the key properties of the system components as well as efficient tools to calibrate these models. There are several users of aftertreatment models at Scania, each having different purposes of their simulations.

Assignment:
The task is to develop a catalyst model simulation and optimisation tool in Matlab. This tool shall include pre-processing of data, optimisation of kinetic parameters and data plotting algorithms. The project is suitable for one independent or two collaborating students.

Education:
The ideal candidates have good knowledge in Matlab programming and chemical reaction engineering. Knowledge on internal combustion engines, thermodynamics, statistics and design of experiments is also advantageous. A high level of initiative is required and good communications skills in English will be needed to successfully conduct the assignment.

Time frame:
Recruitment will be conducted continuously from the posting of this ad and the position might be filled earlier than the final date stated in the add. The thesis is a master thesis to be conducted in 20 weeks, starting first quarter of 2020.
