Join and Shape the Nanocellulose Revolution!

The nanocellulose market is set for considerable growth with high expectations on this new material in multiple applications ranging from cosmetics to composites. Based on top research performed at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, FineCell has developed new nanocellulose materials from forest resources. Our nanocellulose is produced through a cost-effective process where only renewable chemicals are used. Our patented technology enables us to substantially reduce the energy and water consumption, significantly increase the production yield, and obtain nanocellulose with new and unique features. We develop and produce differentiated micro- and nanocellulose products helping manufacturers across multiple applications develop tomorrow’s products with enhanced performances and reduced carbon footprints. So far, market opportunities have been identified within segments such as lightweight composites, cosmetics, biotech/medical materials, and paints/surface coatings.

What Have We Accomplished

  • Verified customer interests in several market segments by more than 20 industrial leads with concrete interests in our products.

  • Currently pilot-testing our products together with several industrial leads or negotiating partnerships.

  • Secured over 5 MSEK in soft funding, e.g. from VINNOVA and private foundations.

  • Enrolled in EIT InnoEnergy's acceleration program - a leading business accelerator with financial and business development supports.

  • Filed two patent families globally.

  • Initiated scaling up of own production to become a material supplier and started sales.

The Journey Ahead

Today we’re at a crucial stage in accelerating our commercialization, where we need a sales-oriented business development manager and a potential CEO. Industrial players from several market segments have shown solid interests in our products. The opportunities are plenty but so are the challenges. We need to get into partnerships and initiate larger scale sales, decide on the best business strategies, and in parallel pursue industrialization of our innovation as well as scaling up our production. This is where you can make a difference and play a crucial role! We’re looking for a candidate who can accelerate our business development as well as take on the leading role in the future to grow the company together with us. Your initial responsibilities will include business development, establishment of customer relationships, refining the business strategy and product roadmap, as well as lay the basis for development of this company venture e.g. securing funding.

We will offer you to become a co-owner of the company. During the first 4 months, the role will be structured as a part-time consultancy assignment. Thereafter, the intention is that you will join the funding team as a co-owner and if suitable become the new CEO of the company. The level of involvement is depending on the tasks but we foresee the person is able to initially spend at least 50% of his/her full time on the project and be able to ramp this up to full time should this be necessary in the future.

Skills & Requirements

We are seeking a Sales-Oriented Business Development Manager with potential and desire to join us as a co-owner of FineCell after this assignment. We expect you to take the company to the next phase!

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Follow up with existing leads, identify new prospects and establish new customer/partner contacts across our target market segments - lightweight composites, cosmetics, and biotech/medical applications. Some travels are required

  • Drive business development to close deals/agreements/partnerships

  • Support and then take the lead in managing the current projects

  • Further develop the business strategy and plan for the company’s future growth 

  • Prepare the company for investment rounds and secure funding

  • Set a roadmap for scaling up the production

We Expect You to Have

  • Solid business or technical background (a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree)

  • At least 5 years of experience from relevant industrial fields, ideally from industrial processing, performance chemicals, or advanced materials

  • Proven experience in marketing and B2B sales. Good at establishing, building, and maintaining customer relationships

  • Experience in negotiating and setting up agreements e.g. licensing, partnerships etc.

  • An entrepreneurial and result focused mindset with a strong drive

  • Experience from running and building startup is highly meriting

  • Great communication skills. Fluency in both English and Swedish
