Expatriation assignment as Project Manager Mission Trainer for GRIPEN E/F located in Gavião Peixoto, Brazil

Aeronautics is one of the largest and most advanced development centers within Sweden. The department develop and integrate nearly all systems (including training, mission and support systems) for the world class fighter aircraft GRIPEN E/F and also systems for other platforms like T-7A Red Hawk and Global Eye.

Support and Training Systems department contains 350 employees and is a part of Aeronautics. Aeronautics head quarter is placed in Linköping but there are several other sites like Arboga and Gavião Peixoto, Brazil. Support and Training Systems also includes partners and vendors worldwide. 

A part of the Gripen contract between Saab and the Brazilian costumer an agreement is made to transfer technology from Sweden to Brazil. The transfer of technology is throught education and on the job training in Sweden. But also on site in Brazil through performing work packages together with our partners.

We are now offering an opportunity to take a key role in the execution of this contract agreement and to do so in an exciting technology area where Saab is one of the foremost in the world.

As an expatriate placed at one of our partners, you not only become responsible for transfer within a specific area of expertise, but you also become an ambassador for Saab in the customer country.

You will work on site in Gavião Peixoto in Brazil where Saab now has built an organisation with staff and other expatriates.

The assignment is scheduled to start in July 2021 initially for two years, therefore you will start preparations as soon as possible.

As a Project Manager, you will lead Brazilian specific development of the Mission Trainer within system development including responsibility for efficient definition of system work coordinating common enablers at the site and also needed enablers from Aeronautics in Linköping.

In this role you will primary report to the site manager at Gavião Peixoto, Business unit Brazil Program management and the line manager for Flight Training Systems in Linköping.

Approximately 8 partner employees will be in the development group performing work packages. This group will be supported by short terms expatriates from Aeronautics in Linköping.

Working as a project manager and with system development in a foreign environment will require leadership skills, wide network within GRIPEN development and a large portion of adaptability because of the wide range of subjects combined with new ways of working.

All work packages are performed in blended team’s together with Atech, Embraer and other partners. An important part is to help out this cooperation to work but also to keep the agreed division of labor.
