Pipedream builds the CI Platform for Spotify’s web, backend services and data pipelines and is a critical part of the Spotify ecosystem. By joining us, you will help play an instrumental role in improving the productivity of over 2000+ developers at Spotify, and help Spotify on our journey to become one of the top tech companies in the world, in addition to having a broader global impact on the technology industry.
We, as a team, cover end-to-end integration of CI on an in-house tool called Tingle, with components mainly written in Java. We work on a scale of processing a few thousand CI jobs a day. Additionally the team is working on improving and scaling all aspects of our CI pipeline, the focus being on improving parallelisation, focusing on implementation performance and adding the features we need to test and ship our product more efficiently.
What you’ll do
- Be a technical leader within the team you work with and within Spotify in general.
- Coordinate technical projects across teams within Spotify.
- Facilitate collaboration with other engineers, product owners, and designers to solve interesting and challenging problems for delivering various media worldwide.
- Be a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile team.
- Architect, design, develop, deploy and operate Java services following good design and development practices.
- Be a leader of the Spotify-wide backend developer community affecting and driving our architecture across the companyDesign and document systems, including writing and reviewing code, to automate away problems within your squad’s domain.
- Undertake measured, methodical, troubleshooting of complicated systems under pressure.
Who you are
- You have a passion for solving problems using open source software, you hate rebuilding the wheel, if it is out there, you want to build on top and improve.
- Architect, design, develop, deploy and operate Java services that serve millions of users in a DevOps manner.
- You have a deep knowledge of Linux (we run Ubuntu) and all layers of the networking stack. You should be confident discussing in detail what’s going on under the hood.
- You are comfortable with large scale production systems and technologies, for example load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, or configuration management.
- You have a track record of designing and executing small to medium scale systems automation projects with strong autonomy.
- You have strong coding skills in at least one programming language, and a desire to pick up more. We work primarily in Java, with smatterings of shell script, Python and Groovy.
- You have familiarity with and enthusiasm for software engineering best practices such as testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- You have the ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving, globally distributed environment.
