Marketing & Communications is a global function that consists of 450 employees at the Head Office in Stockholm and supports all 74 markets around the world. The department has the responsibility to build the H&M brand, internally and externally when it comes to brand awareness, attraction and loyalty. The Communications department constantly drives change making sure that H&M’s communication is customer-oriented, relevant and aligned with our brand DNA. We are now looking for a Communications Specialist/Press Officer.

As a Communications Specialist/Press officer you will contribute to strengthen, develop and protect the H&M brand in a trustworthy way. You will collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure a consistent communication strategy and messages. Maintaining and developing relationships with relevant key media and other stakeholders.  Able to work proactively with relevant news stories and reactively to identify potential and active crisis situations while working closely with local teams. You will report to the Global Head of Media Relations. Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Strategically plan, support and lead proactive and reactive communication
• Produce press releases, messages and pitch relevant news and stories to media
• Arrange press events in collaboration with other functions
• Maintain and develop our relationships with relevant key media and other stakeholders
• Be part of the 24/7 press duty rota and act as a spokesperson when needed
• Prepare, support and train spokespeople before interviews, at press events or other relevant forums
• Support local communications teams with proactive and reactive communication
• Follow up and evaluation
• Plan and forecast budgets for projects

• Formal higher education within Communications, Journalism and/or Marketing (or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience working with media relations, as a journalist or at a PR agency 
• Experience from working with communication in a global company
• Experience in crisis communications
• Fluent in English, spoken and written 
• Have strong accuracy, attention to detail and planning skills
• Result-oriented with an ability to communicate a vision and strategy, prioritize and take decisions

• Have a “growth mindset”, love to succeed and is motivated by challenging goals
• Constantly want to improve, have analytical skills and the ability to know what makes a difference to build trust
• See opportunities, are curious and find new solutions to complex situations
• Are communicative with a passion for the written language and the capability to simplify complexity
• We also see that you are a great team player with the ability to collaborate with different stakeholders, while at the same time being self-driven
