Release Support Engineer to Core Computer in future Volvo car
We imagine that our friends, families, and children are transported in a personal, sustainable, and safe way. What we build is a self-driving, fully electric, connected, and super safe Volvo car.
The amount of software in our future vehicles is by far exceeding many other software critical products and businesses. We tend to see the future cars as a computer on wheels. To orchestrate such a huge software-centric system, we both need a computer that is powerful enough to carry all features from control loops to AI/Machine Learning capabilities.
The brain in this platform will be a Core Computer with the capacity to carry a vast majority of electric control units and applications in the car. This new centralized signal system aims to enable optimized software architecture and continuous deployment for further development as well as over the air data updates and real-time decision-making for autonomous drive.
About our R&D - Core System Software
In our part of the R&D, we code the base software on the Core Computer to refine computational power and to enable successful integration with applications. Our teams work in an agile manner organized according to SAFe to be able to quickly adjust to changing requirements.
We work with an a-state-of-the-art embedded multiprocessor environment from Nvidia including hypervisors, Linux, QNX, Rust, and other modern technologies.
Role Specifics – Release Support HW/SW
You will be part of a release team. You will continuously work with securing the deliveries from ART Core System platform for VCC production and aftermarket. Typical tasks are taking the SW from the team and create release documentation in the systems used for SWDL in production and aftermarket and create and maintain variant structure for HW in KDP. In general, much of the work is coupled with supporting the vehicle releases and to be an interface to the ART and the HW/SW development teams. You will have a close collaboration with the Product Owners, Team managers, and many other people with an interface to the team. As the next step in improvement, we see automation of the KDP release process to better support CI and improve the quality of our releases.
