In addition, autonomous driving vehicles will disrupt the business model and put higher requirements on connectivity. The Connectivity and Car Cloud Platform department mission is to provide World-class Global Connectivity and Cloud Platform Services for all our vehicles, both on- and off-board.

In addition, new applications in new areas, will put new and more challenging requirements on the communication systems both on- and off-board vehicle, e.g. new communication technologies, higher bitrates, new frequency bands, more antennas, mobile edge computing, etc. 
Meeting these customer expectations and technical challenges, requires the support of a Technical Leader within Communication Systems. 

  

What you'll do 

As a Technical Leader within Communication Systems, you will (non-exhaustive list): 

  • Drive strategic work, research, advanced engineering, and process development. 

  • Work closely and collaborate with all relevant stakeholders. 

  • Propose an electrical architecture of the communication system. 

  • Propose which communication technologies that are suitable for the communication system. 

  • Deliver on annual basis a benchmark report covering competitors, suppliers, authorities, etc. 

  • Perform research within Technical Specialist area, e.g., supervise VIPP Ph.D. students and publish research papers. 

  • Secure technology readiness by facilitate, supervise, and/or lead advanced engineering projects, preferably funded by authorities, e.g., Vinnova FFI and EU H2020. 

  • Secure succession by proactively provide mentoring, coaching, etc. 

  • Develop and maintain relations with universities through supervision of Ph.D. students, thesis works, give guest lectures. 

  • Proactively participate in standardization work, e.g., 3GPP, ETSI, and IEEE. 

  • Proactively participate in industry association work, e.g., 5GAA ,ACEA, C2C-CC, and GSMA. 

  • Proactively participate in seminars, conferences and workshops. 

  

What you bring 

To be successful in the role as Technical Leader within Communication Systems you need to have extensive, 15 years or longer, experience from relevant positions within the technical field, preferable also in combination with automotive experience. You hold a PhD, (or MSc with equivalent academic publications/experience) of the technical field. You have a strong theoretical background in math, electronics, and communication technologies and have experience within statistical methods and process improvements. You have extensive experience from advance engineering work and solid experience from product development within communication area, making you familiar with the unique challenges in the field and the industry. 

You have excellent communication skills and enjoy combining work on a principal high level while also having capability and willingness to teach / coach / mentor. You have demonstrated leadership skills on at least team or project level.
