At Volvo Cars Torslanda, within Plant Engineering, we are creating a team that develops the future manufacturing processes for our future EV cars.

 

Our purpose is together with Manufacturing Engineering develop and secure the best available techniques, develop the new manufacturing processes, develop standards and work in close collaboration with our colleagues at R&D. Strategic work, cost estimations, and manufacturability analysis of components is a major part of our daily work. In some cases, we also set up learning sessions. We work closely together with Manufacturing Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing Shops worldwide and Procurement.

 

You will be a part of a highly skilled team with many different competencies. We have a great team spirit, where everyone is included and dedicated to securing our product and we work with an excellent quality and support.

 

What you´ll do

As a Machining Engineer you will ensure that the plant is involved in setting up new production processes and layouts to ensure an efficient flow oriented process.

You will be part of a team that will start up the new process and ensure a flawless launch. Your responsibilities will be to:

 

  • Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of internal counterparts, subcontractors and suppliers and act as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
  • Identify shortcomings, continuous improvements in existing processes, systems and procedures, and use established methods to solve or address them.
  • Help others get the most out of the knowledge sharing by offering support and advice.
  • Carry out a range of product and/or process development, engineering activities. Use established systems to analyse customer needs, define & deliver products.
  • Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.

 

Do you fit the profile?

We believe you have M.Sc. within Production, Mechanical or Materials Engineering and/or equivalent experience from Production of Casted Components. You have experience fromMachining production set-up and Launching of new Products. We also see that you have several years of experience from production environment of Machined components and experience from Lean Production.

 

To be successful and to thrive in this position you’ll need to have an extensive interest in technology, and it is highly meritorious if you have knowledge from automotive industry.  

Besides above, you need to have excellent writing skills in English, both written and spoken, and good knowledge of PC environment.
