Junior Test Development Engineer for the Core Computer in our next generation cars i Lund

We imagine that our friends, families, and children are transported in a personal, sustainable, and safe way. What we build is a self-driving, fully electric, connected, and super safe Volvo Car.

But the current platform makes it impossible for us to have the control that we need to succeed. The overall technical threshold is that the +140 electric components in the car do not communicate the way we want it to.

Therefore, we build a new platform. The brain in this platform will be a Core Computer with the capacity to carry a vast majority of electric control units and applications in the car. This new centralized signal system aims to enable optimized software architecture and continuous deployment for further development as well as over the air data updates and real-time decision-making for autonomous drive.

About our R&D- Core System Software

In our part of the R&D, we code the base software on the Core Computer to refine computational power and to enable successful integration with applications. Our teams work in an agile manner organized according to SAFe to be able to quickly adjust to changing requirements. 

We work with a-state-of-the-art embedded multiprocessor environment from Nvidia including hypervisors, Linux, QNX, Rust and other modern technologies.

Role Specifics

This is a computer built into the Volvo Car that will transport ourselves and our families around. Quality code is therefore fundamental for us and which is why we are now strengthening our teams we more test developers.  We are looking for you who have a keen interest in embedded SW development and test techniques used in modern development as well as a passion for creating a stable test environment and supporting our developers using our framework. You like solving problems together with and through others. You have strong customer focus, enjoys the possibility to influence and you love to be part of a team where we take own initiatives and take pride in your own and the team’s deliveries.

Requirements

You are fresh out of school or have been working a few years as a system tester or software developer in a modern SW development environment with a highly automated test framework and continuous integration.

You have graduated from BSc or MSc in Computer Science or similar and aspire to be a professional Embedded Software Engineer who is motivated by challenging tasks in a complex and innovative environment

You need to have a basic knowledge in C++ in embedded systems and basic knowledge in Python scripting. Experience of Robot framework and CMake is considered meriting.
