Background
The fast pace of developing software for next generation electric vehicles requires continuous testing and fast feedback. In order to assure highest possible quality we utilize Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulators which enable for software testing on the target electronic control units (ECUs) . This way we can trick the ECU to believing that it is located in a real car although it is connected in laboratories. Hereby HIL simulators enable manual as well as automatic testing on an advanced level and in a reproduceable environment.

Scope
In order to simulate the ECU environment, it is modelled in Simulink. It will be your task to create a generic plant model in order to simulate the power electronics in one of our vehicle charging nodes.

This will be an enabler to validate crucial software functions that control the charging process on our battery electric vehicles.

What to do:

  • Gather requirements and discus with design department and the component supplier to create a specification
  • Develop a Simulink/Matlab AC/DC Converter model - for converting AC - from the Grid - to DC current that charges the traction battery
    • Create a generic AC/DC model
    • Adapt and calibrate the model for next generation Electrical Vehicle application
  • Validate the model
    • Validate the model using model-in-the-loop
    • Integrate the new model within a project
    • Validate that the ECU SW recognizes the power conversion in the HIL
