Om tjänsten

Want to drive digital change in automotive?

At Volvo Cars, we are making bold digital visions come true. We aim to lead in the automotive world by creating a digital ecosystem built around making our customers' lives less complicated. Now we are looking for curious, creative people who want to change the world through innovative thinking.

What’s in it for you?
In the Mobile Platform team, we work to empower the development of experiences that make owning a car better. We empower products delivered mainly through Volvo Cars app, such as Connected Car Cloud Platform, Service Booking, Connected Safety, Customer Care Chat, Volvo ID, over-the-air updates, and car connectivity.

The team is located in Gothenburg, Stockholm, and Lund, Sweden, and we also have teams in the US and in China. Many of the people you will be working with have experience from start-ups and global tech companies such as Spotify, Google, Ericsson, Microsoft, Tradera, Klarna, and King.

We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to help us craft our technical architecture and strategy that will allow the Volvo Cars app to scale to new features, markets, and car platforms.

We have only just begun this journey in earnest and you’ll be joining us at a time where you can really have a great impact and help us set the tone for the next chapter in our company's history.

What you'll do:

  • Provide technical leadership within mobile experience cluster and be closely plugged into and impact the clusters we have dependencies with.
  • Contribute to the cluster product vision and strategy
  • Be an integral part of a multi-discipline set of teams and work closely with our internal customers and product teams
  • Be a cluster-level expert in your particular field and a go-to person for solving problems within it
  • Be a mentor and role model for other engineers and leaders in the organization
  • Encourage sound engineering practices while driving our technical strategy and roadmaps
  • Guide and drive technical initiatives that span multiple teams within our cluster, and beyond
  • Be an influencer and thought leader in the company-wide mobile engineering community
  • Demonstrate and nurture a growth mindset and never stop growing as an Engineer and leader
  • Share your knowledge to help others grow by being visible and e.g. leading learning sessions, publishing your thoughts on external and internal blogs, representing Volvo Cars at external conferences and meetups, etc

Who you are:

  • You have proven experience as a technical leader (formal or informal) for a sizeable organization
  • You have proven experience in working hands-on as a Software Engineer in an agile environment, and still love doing it
  • You enjoy collaborating with product- and UX leaders and team members to build outstanding products
  • You fully embrace a growth mindset and inspire others to do the same
  • You get a kick out of mentoring and supporting your fellow engineers and teams, so they can grow to their full potential
  • You understand the importance of having a solution that is scalable, sustainable, architecturally sound; you care about quality and you know what it means to ship high-quality code
  • You know how to ensure technical debt is both incurred consciously and repaid in a reasonable time
  • You can comfortably navigate ambiguity and have the ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making when necessary
  • You have empathy and understand that every individual and situation has their specific needs and can adapt your leadership style and interactions accordingly
  • You like to have fun at work and take great pride in making sure everyone always feels welcome and included

We offer our employees excellent benefits such as:

  • Plenty of leave to let you take time off for what's most important in life
  • At Volvo Car Group, all new parents with one year’s active permanent service now receive 24 weeks of parental leave, paid at 80 percent of their base pay.
