Om tjänsten

Do you want to lead the sustainability transition within the Energy sector?

What is happening, why do we need more hands on-deck?

The sustainability transition is triggering an unprecedent need for investments, policies, and development at all levels of society. Fossil fuels will have to be replaced by low carbon and renewable alternatives, and new technologies will have to be implemented on a large scale to ensure that adequate levels of emission reduction are met.

At the same time, physical assets and systems already in place need to be maintained and improved to be part of the sustainable future. How this transition will happen is not always well defined, and there is thus a great demand for both thinkers and implementers who are prepared to test new solutions and approaches.

How are we approaching this?

At Advisory Services, a newly formed business area within the Energy & Industry division we are now gathering our existing competencies within Advisory Services, Energy Strategies and Energy Markets to ensure that we continue to be at the centre of this transition moving forward. We act in the broader context as we have access to a wide pool of cutting-edge expertise as well as colleagues across multiple countries. We are an established and trusted partner in transaction and strategy consulting where we leverage Sweco’s position as market leader in technology, infrastructure, and sustainability.

The day-to-day work is quite similar to traditional management consulting, but at Sweco we are deeply rooted in our position as a leading knowledge partner. We offer technical, commercial, regulatory and sustainability advisory and analysis, primarily within the energy sector. In addition, we are engaged as advisors for due diligence, market design, policies, operational excellence, strategy development, and upstream sustainability assessments.  Further, Advisory Services provides expert advice to other Sweco engagements across our full-service offering.

Our core areas include heating, electricity and gas distribution, power generation, hydrogen, energy storage, vehicle charging and so on. We work with a broad variety of clients in industry as well as the financial and public sector, focusing on how different systems need to be combined within the context of regulation, policy, technology development, and different stakeholder objectives. Our main market is Northern Europe and the energy sector, but we are also engaged in the ongoing industrial transition across the EU.

What does Mattias Nordström, Head of Advisory Services, have to say regarding this?

“My personal driver is to be able to look my kids in their eyes when I tell them about what we did here and now, with the knowledge and tools we have at our disposal – to support the transition towards a more sustainable society for generations to come.

My daily work is dominated by acting as an interpreter between disciplines, facilitator for our experts, ensuring that clients are satisfied with our work and that we enjoy the time we spend together as professionals – as well as acting as strategy advisor within my own fields of renewable energy and sustainability.

The teams in our business area are characterized by people who are enthusiastic about helping clients in the energy sector to come to well-founded and sustainable decisions. We like complex questions, and we solve them together with our clients. As an organisation we are very decentralised and give our colleagues lots of personal responsibility. Our leaders see it as one of their core responsibilities to support our colleagues in their development, always with a long-term perspective.”

We believe an Analyst/Junior Consultant with Advisory Services self resonates with some of this

You probably have a university degree from a relevant field. Even more importantly you are greatly interested in the energy sector and the Nordic energy landscape. You might even have a sense of the issues, challenges and drivers your clients’ businesses are impacted by. Perhaps you feel at home in or are curious about management consulting/transaction advisory to the sector, power market modelling, business case modelling, economic analyses, or energy policy advisory. There are so many ways to describe what we do and how we make an impact, and these areas are just a few.

You need to be analytical and forward leaning. You approach problems without prestige and enjoy sharing ideas and feedback. You might have prior experience from consulting but that is not a requirement, more a plus. Further, you thrive in an environment founded on rapid external change, complex questions, teamwork and a high degree of personal freedom and responsibility.

Since our working language is English you need to be comfortable in both spoken and written English. Swedish is considered a plus. Also, we strive for teams that are multilingual and multidisciplinary, which is why having the ability to collaborate and communicate is a key success factor. Having the ability to create relationships in a cross-functional organisation is highly valued.

What about your future role as an Analyst/Junior Consultant with Advisory Services?

You will be part of one of our teams within Advisory Services in the Energy & Industry Division. As we are looking for several new colleagues with different backgrounds and experiences, your role may vary based on your individual background and personal preference and interests.

You are expected to contribute in all areas of our business, including but not limited to business development, customer relationship management, team deliveries as well as development of competencies relevant to your field of interest and expertise. You are responsible for your own contribution, and you show initiative. Curiosity will get you far at Advisory Services.

We believe in curiosity, and you are eager to take on challenges you have never tried before, and you work actively to develop you own professional contact network, both internally and externally. You will also have a large degree of freedom to develop based on your competencies, interests, and experiences.

Here is what we hope your application will include:

  • An updated CV of your most relevant experiences
  • Instead of a cover letter we wish for you to send us a quick brief, pitch, POV or market analysis or such of something you find interesting within the energy sector or the Nordic energy landscape, max one A4
