As a market leader in mobile network solutions Ericsson is using the latest technology and architecture. Currently we are developing our solutions to run in a cloud based environment using a microservice architecture-based approach. Ericsson is also constantly working towards more efficient and more effective ways to develop products and solutions. A large part of the development efforts are spent on validation and verification of our products and solutions. A particularly important area is for us to show to our customers what performance can be expected from our products and solutions in terms of e.g. capacity, latency and throughput. The validation and verification in this area is particularly complicated and expensive.

We would like Your help to:

Based on the latest knowledge and technology investigate and analyze how to incorporate a Micro Benchmarking approach as part of our current Test Strategy and Continuous Deployment strategy. For the thesis work we want you to do an initial proof-of-concept analysis of micro benchmarking in the context of Ericsson. This includes (1) studying how micro benchmarking can feasibly be implemented within Ericsson, and identifying significant issues and challenges (e.g., through interviews with domain experts, prototypes, and/or experiments), and (2) scientifically evaluating the potential of micro benchmarking, for instance by comparing faults identified through micro benchmarking with the results of existing long-running test suites. Outcome of the thesis work can include suggested updates to the current test strategy and possibly prototype proof-of-concept implementation of test equipment.

The successful candidate(s) must be interested in working with the bigger perspective and have an interest in ways of working/process development as well as understanding of hands-on development work e.g. application development and programming.
