Background
High demands on shortened lead times and reduced cost in the automotive industry drive the production development increasingly towards virtual development. Traditional methods of problem solving based on costly and time-consuming physical test loops are increasingly replaced with virtual prototyping using numerical methods such as the FEM.
Ability to handle increasingly complex relationships present during machining of crankshafts demands deeper understanding of a number of different phenomena that arises.
During the turning process of the crankshaft, there is problem to contain the narrow tolerances due to bending and vibrations caused by the number of revolutions / min.
