Robot cell optimization using emulation model
Background
Digitalization of production systems is an ongoing development and one part of this is to have digital copies of the production cells. These cells can be used for many purposes and some are yet to be discovered. For example the models can be used for virtual commissioning to evaluate a production cell before it is delivered. Another is to make tests and prepare changes to a cell that is used in production to be able to make a fast implementation on the physical cell.
Scope
Identify improvement possibilities for a production cell using a digital model of that cell. The students will adapt a current Process Simulate model and then use the model to optimize the production cell. There could also be suggestions of improvements from the Volvo staff that can be tested in the model.
Suggested improvements can be in program code, layout or other suggestions by the students. The changes suggested on the production cell shall also be economically motivated.
Profile
You are bachelor student in automation or production engineering. Your studies have included lean production and offline programming of robots and PLC using emulation models.

Duration
