Thesis:  High performance userspace I/O in virtual environment i Göteborg

Goal

Evaluate existing solutions and/or future trends to achieve high pps between two containers within a VNF running on the same physical host.

Different architectural solutions exists today, such as virtualize the network interface (virtio), utilize customized hardware (SR-IOV) or by sharing memory between VM:s/containers (shared memory queues). What strategy would be the right way forward to achieve as high pps as possible and what are the disadvantage in terms of flexibility, performance and security.

(The work needs to be further defined with the university institution that will be handling this work).
