What do we offer?
 This role is within our Consumer Commercial Digital Products (CCDP) team, which is using digital technologies to reinvent the experience of becoming a Volvo customer. There’s no reason the experience of buying a car should be painful and difficult – it should be as enjoyable and exciting as actually having a new car. That is our mission. This is a rapidly growing team, and we are looking for outstanding people who will be some of the earliest hires in their function, helping to establish it at Volvo Cars. 


We are looking for an experienced Ops-engineer who will help lead our journey from our existing legacy DevOps environment to a new, modern DevOps implantation with responsibility for architecture, development and operations is within Volvo Cars. The work is situated in our new offices close to Gothenburg City in Gamlestaden or in Stockholm.

What you’ll do
You will be responsible for DevOps for the development of new development of software and services for new consumer applications (desktop and mobile) that reach Volvo’s customers.  You should have start-up experience where you have supported rapid prototyping efforts and have catalysed product development in a fast paced, fluid environment.  You have a strong knowledge of the role DevOps plays in being an essential part of the software development team and standing up and supporting a variety of servers and services in a cloud environment.  You also are responsible for monitoring, alerting/notifications, log analysis and diagnosing system issues, and responding to site issues.  You will also explore support for multi-cloud (AWS and Azure) environments and solutions to provide common tools and views.  Because we are a multi-cloud environment, you should have solid experience in either AWS or Azure DevOps, and also be interested in learning core areas of Azure and AWS, in order to provide support for both cloud environments.


This position is located in Volvo’s new Software Technology Centre in central Stockholm.

You and your skills
To be successful in this role you need a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, Master’s degree is preferred. You also need a minimum of 5 years work experience in product development with at least 2 years working in DevOps. During your career you have gained strong system knowledge and operating systems. You have expertise in and experience developing consumer-facing products and experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and associated tools (Jira).
We think you have experience as a hands on DevOps engineer, managing provisioning, configure, development, and monitoring of a variety of servers, services and logs in a cloud environment. You have knowledge of system architecture, networking, and services, including databases (SQL and noSQL), caching, messaging, search, and various open source services. You have the skill to managing and implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery systems and a solid understanding of programming and scripting languages, including Perl, Python, or Ruby. You’re more at home using CLIs versus GUIs when doing your work.

 

We also think you have the skills below:
• Understanding of networking, including DNS, firewalls, load balances, subnets, etc.
• Experience with AWS, or Azure, and technologies such as Docker and Kubernets.
• Server log processing using Splunk or ELK, Application Monitoring using New Relic, AppDynamics, etc.
• Technical interviewing, and helping to build a great DevOps team
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and associated tools, including DevOps integration with Slack.

 

We think you share our passion for cars and development in the auto industry. If you have exposure/knowledge of working with multi-cloud environments it is an extra plus. Understanding of CMS systems, such as Drupal or Sitecore, and E-Commerve systems as well as experience of developing mobile applications is considered as preferred qualifications.
