The Global Analytics and Insights (GAI) group at Electronic Arts is the heart of data analysis and user experience research work at EA. The telemetry engineer is one of the most critical roles as it ensures that the data exists to create learnings from – The person in this role is most successful when they can expertly merge technical skill with game play knowledge and a great communication style.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Game development and Analysis teams to design and create telemetry specifications that meet all requirements.
  • Implement and debug telemetry events within the game code base
  • Ensure quality telemetry that is attributed appropriately for data needs as well as optimized structure
  • Establish and work within standard design conventions to include user research, game analytics and development needs.
  • Operationalize telemetry attribution features
  • Design, development, testing and deployment of integrated instrumentation
  • Verifies and compiles with engineering standards and test procedures
  • Be an advocate for data quality, create test plans and assist QA teams
  • Create and automate instrumentation test systems to reduce manual quality testing
  • Strong problem solving skills in complex systems
  • Maintain scrum/sprint cadence and meet timelines for game requirements
  • Perform game analysis targeting player behavior and game performance
Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of C/C++
  • Strong knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of other programming language’s such as Python, Java, JavaScript is desirable
  • Comfortable working in large code bases
  • Experience with development tools and suites such as, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, JIRA
  • Solid understanding of Agile (SCRUM) Development practices
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity in SDLC  methodology
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, creative, fast-paced, and quality-oriented.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Background in data processing and statistical analysis
  • Experience working within Unity, Unreal or similar game engines is desirable
  • Possess proven troubleshooting skills
  • Be curious, detail oriented, and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quickly
  • Have proven ability to self-manage, as well as manage interdisciplinary relationships
