Thesis project at Scania is an excellent way of making contacts for your future working life. Many of our current employees started their career with a thesis project.
Background:
Embedded systems offer enormous opportunities in almost all application domains in our society. Because of their heterogeneity and complexity, such systems require the use of many software tools to support embedded systems development. These tools need to form a well-integrated and effective Development Environment (DE), in order to ensure that product data is consistent and correct across the developing organisation. A promising approach to deal with this challenge is to adopt the architecture of the internet – in particular Linked Data or Semantic Web technologies () – to achieve a scalable and sustainable integration across the different engineering tools.
However, with an increasing number of tools and information, the environment itself becomes complex and difficult to comprehend. Users need to spend a lot of time even becoming familiar with the different tools and their information.
Target:
The purpose of the project is to develop principles and methods for visualizing complex tool data. Data is represented using Semantic Web technologies. The project should build on existing prototypes and user experience research, and result in a web-based prototype application that integrates with existing visualization tools at Scania.
