RAN-I, within the Product Development Unit (PDU) 4G&5G, is the new Incubator unit where we make brilliant new ideas grow into products. We have the responsibility for driving management and orchestration through Open Source into the 5G future.

The Technical Coordinator for Open Source Contributions will work within the 5G RAN Explorer program closely with the product owner, product managers, the RAN-I leadership team and several development teams in BNEW to secure efficient integration of the Open Source platform with the radio nodes through close technical alignment between the teams and coordinated positions in the open source community. As a Technical Coordinator you will participate in managing stakeholders and also teach, coach, challenge and develop individuals and teams. You will be a leading light in fostering a creative and learning culture.

Responsibilities:

• You will be required to define and propose scope for the technical open source contributions and coordinate with teams using the platform internally

• Provide the team with technical leadership insight and guide contributions by coordinating with relevant TA studies and scanning for not yet identified SP/OA-equivalent problems

• Set and communicate the goals, coach and lead team to achieve the goals

• Identify improvements to ways-of-working together with the sub-project manager and lead open source contributors

• Manage different stakeholders

Key Qualifications:

• At least 10 years of experience in software development for management systems, alternately a mix of development and operations. Experience in both telecommunications and web-scale enterprise systems would be an advantage

• Strong technical competence in software development for O&M, ideally both from a radio node and NMS/OSS perspective. Capabilities to write and review code in several languages (such as Java, Python, Golang as well as Bash scripting and Ansible templating) are an advantage

• Proven technical experience as a leader with focus on SW architecture, agile methods and continuous integration

• Experience in standardization or contributions to open source projects, ideally both in technical coordinator and individual contributor roles

• Solid understanding of cloud platforms such as Openstack and Kubernetes with hands-on abilities to interact with them for administration and operations

• Strong technical leadership, visionary on the area he/she is leading, think the big picture and guide the team

• Open and flexible for taking best practices of the open source community project and driving adoption within the teams under your coordination

• Proven ability to follow up and communicate goals regularly and proactively set new goals

• Comfortable to work with loosely-specified roles and changing requirements

You have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or equivalent discipline, or the equivalent level of knowledge. We expect that your English is fluent in both speaking and writing.
