Senior Reserving Actuary i Stockholm

Our Scandinavian Reserving team consists of around 13 actuaries located in Stockholm and Copenhagen. The team is part of the Codan/Trygg-Hansa Group's Nordic Finance function and has overall responsibility for developing and managing models, process and business interaction for reserving.

We are looking for a non-life actuary for the office in Stockholm. Ideally you have some years of experience. Most important is that you have a desire to work in a developing, interactive, professional and international environment with much challenge and interaction. 

The tasks involved in reserving are

• Calculation of reserve balances
• Analysis of results – understanding the trends in our insurance portfolios and claims management to explain changes and make predictions of future results.
• Development of tools and processes to improve reserving analysis and to better understand our data.
• Communication and reporting of reserving recommendations to business management, and external stakeholders including company auditors and Financial Regulators.
• General interaction with our stakeholders within the company in other departments to create a good understanding of the portfolio, and changes and trends in wider society.

Our core reserving responsibilities operate to a regular cycle with quarterly reserving reviewing by portfolio and booking of reserves to the company accounts monthly and quarterly. Outside this work on varied projects both within the Actuarial team and with the wider business. During all our work we have regular contact will our colleagues across our Scandinavian and Global business. Both to discuss results, but also to improve our tools and Processes. A core philosophy being to automate repetitive tasks, leaving time for value adding analysis or development.

Our work style in the team (and outside) is collaborative based on mutual challenge through discussions. 

Your profile:

• You have an appropriate academic education in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or financial mathematics.
• Ideally you have experience from actuarial work within Non-Life insurance. But given qualifications less may do.
• You have knowledge and skills in development tools such as R, SAS, SQL, VBA, Excel – potentially even the Reserving system ResQ.
• You have a desire to improve our core actuarial work, but also how we create an business understanding and impact.
• You have good communication skills, and good knowledge of spoken and written Swedish and English.
• You believe in challenging Status Quo and that an Actuarial department must continuously develop tools, processes and individuals.
