Senior Environmental Expert

 

The Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility unit is responsible for driving programs and projects to support Ericsson’s ambition to be a responsible and relevant driver of positive change. We drive Ericsson’s sustainability and corporate responsibility activities including have company sustainability performance including Energy, Environment, Climate, Circular Economy, Health and Safety in scope.

 

The Senior Environmental Specialist will be part of the Sustainability unit and responsible for providing specialist advice and support regarding materials and substances. As well as for developing and managing environmental improvements to secure Ericsson environmental leadership. This includes development of requirements, assessing risks, providing reports, leading, planning and implementing environmental projects and programs that ensure execution of company policies and strategies as well as compliance with relevant environmental regulations and standards. The Senior Environmental Specialist will support corporate and local staff with expert advice and direction.

 

Responsibilities

 

 Subject Matter Expert for chemicals and materials management and as such responsible within its area to:

 

  • Develop strategy, targets, requirements and track performance within area of responsibility
  • Lead, coordinate and partake in projects with other departments to ensure company environmental leadership;
  • Provide internal support  and direction on compliance and remediation on substance/materials issues and regulations;
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure strategies and goals are adequately communicated and properly implemented;
  • Mentor, train and direct personnel to ensure integrity of material and chemicals data for the purpose of internal (e.g. scorecard) and external reporting;
  • Secure that data and reports are available for submittal to internal and external stakeholders e.g. customers, investors, regulatory agencies and organizations;
  • Secure legislative monitoring, gap analysis and risk assessment associated with new or proposed regulations and external stakeholder requirements, as well as preparing company positions and direction coming regulations and requirements;
  • Represent the company in external fora as a subject matter expert

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have comprehensive and diverse knowledge in chemicals management, other environmental topics and regulations;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to make judgements and present recommendations where only general policies and procedures are available,
  • Strong skills in team work, conflict resolution and problem solving and the ability to effectively interact at all levels of the organization and across all business functions;
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging chemical and environmental issues;
  • Working knowledge and experience of  management of chemicals and hazardous substances in products, production and factory sites
  • Ideally the candidate has experience of hardware design or chemicals management in the Telecom or ICT industry
  • The ideal candidate has experience in legislative and policy development processes
  • It is desirable that the candidate has experience in management of material declarations
  • Fluent in English.

 

Education:

  • Bachelors or Masters of Science or Arts degree in a chemical engineering, environmental science, or related curriculum;
  • Minimum 10 years of combined applicable academic training and related work experience;
