Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Scania Purchasing is responsible for buying products and services for all of Scania’s units around the world. The global purchasing function is based in Södertälje. The team working in Commodity Supplies at General Purchasing is responsible for marketing- and communication products and services, travel management, business- and security services, office supplies, automotive fluids, industrial chemicals, as well as cutting- and processing tools. We are now looking for a Buyer/Segment support to join our team. 

Your duties
As Buyer/segment support you will support the purchasers within Commodity Supplies with operational and tactical tasks connected to strategic sourcing of their segments. Your tasks as segment support will include to update price lists, ensure that payments are made according to contracts, place orders, as well as identify and implement improvements in current way of working, both within purchasing and cross-functionally with our internal customers. In addition to this you will also be trained in the role as a purchaser and drive your own sourcing projects from demand to finalized order/contract. You will learn how to perform competitive sourcing, securing commercial terms and conditions, negotiating, presenting your business case for management and closing orders and frame contracts.

Being a purchaser at Scania involves coordination and cooperation with our purchasing colleagues at other Scania sites in the world, as well as within the VW Group, to ensure that we capture synergies in every sourcing decision. The role involves daily contacts both with suppliers, but also with other functions at Scania who are using the products and services that we procure. The office is located in Södertälje, but the position may also require some travel to Scania’s and VW Group’s various units and suppliers around the world. 

Your profile
Probably you are a graduate student or have a couple of years of work experience. You manage technical question, but has a great interest to convert this into commercial negotiations and thrive to learn how to do business. To succeed you need to be structured, analytical, and curious with a willingness to learn. You are communicative and dare to challenge yourself, our current way of working and the supplier base. You should be able to express yourself fluently in both spoken and written English, and have a university degree in a technical or economic field. 

As a person you are result oriented with ability to maintain a wide contact network. You will manage many tasks in parallel and enjoy working in a team. Most of all you have a strong ambition to develop within purchasing.
