We are now looking for a Mechanical Engineer for our High Voltage Technology Center, Circuit Breakers & Drives team in Ludvika. High Voltage Products is a business unit within the Power Grids division that develops, manufactures and markets high voltage products for HVAC and HVDC systems, such as surge arresters, breakers, instrument transformers, capacitors, cooling systems. Product areas include HV Breakers, Arresters, Instrument transformers, Capacitors and Cooling systems. You will be part of High Voltage Technology Center, High Voltage Products Technology Center, Circuit Breakers and Drives has a worldwide ABB responsibility as Technology Lead Center for Live Tank Breakers and Drives. We provide technical expertise to our development projects and product care. We also participate in global R&D projects within Live Tank Breakers product areas. New products are developed and tested in our high voltage laboratory and the markets are found both in Sweden and in other parts of the world. The high voltage breaker is an essential part of a reliable and energy efficient power system. The department has 35 employees, the team about 15.

You will have exciting and varied work where you will have contact with both customers and suppliers. Work with both the local factory and the global organization within high voltage devices and have development opportunities within the areas of calculation and design or as a project manager.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing our products, creating drawings and technical documentation, as well as calculations.

You will also be in charge of problem solving, have technical discussions with clients, develop suppliers and work with research and development and product care projects.

To succeed in the role, you have a mechanical engineering degree, In addition, you have good knowledge of Creo 3D-CAD, you have material knowledge of metallic and polymeric materials.

Moreover, it is a merit if you have worked in global environment and manufacturing industry and/or have been a consultant in mechanical engineering. You are familiar with working with tools like CAD and FEM.

Please note that it is an important requirement to have excellent skills in English, written and spoken alike. Swedish is preferred and other language skills are considered a merit.
