30 credits - Future development tools and system support for Scania's R&D i Sodertalje

Thesis project at Scania is an excellent way of making contacts for your future working life. Many of our current employees started their career with a thesis project.

Background:
The trend towards electrification, autonomous driving and AI goes much faster than we imagined just a few years ago. This, along with Scania’s stated goal of being a leader in Sustainable transport solutions will mean a major shift and face challenges, the solutions we can only imagine today.

In order not to wake up when it’s too late, we need to look forward, and based on what we know today, try to see patterns and draw conclusions about what requirements we will put on the future development tools and system support and how it will affect our organization.

Target:
The target is to analyze and support in describing and developing a conceptual model based on a scenario where Scania’s trucks are exclusively autonomous and completely electrified.

How will our organization be affected, what tools and system support will our development engineers need? For example:

  • What will make our organisation unique and competitive?
  • What kind of product information and in what way should it be available and described?
  • Will we continue to develop our own IT solutions or establish deeper partnerships with system vendors and exclusively purchase ready-made systems?
  • What requirements will be placed on employees and on new ways of working? 

The outcome of the study will be a valuable piece of and input when we develop strategies for how our organization and working methods will evolve and change.

Assignment:
That you, with your knowledge of new technical possibilities, your network of contacts and fresh ideas will challenge our way of thinking. We will challenge your way of thinking with our experience and knowledge. We believe that when this co-operates, we will together create an interesting picture of the future.

You will need to search a lot of information and try to see patterns through literature studies, visits and many meetings and workshops with experienced people within and outside Scania.

Education:

  • Technologists from technical university or data scientists from university with a great interest in new technologies and AI, its threats and opportunities.
