You will be a part of Corporate – Mechanical systems and mechatronics. Corporate Research in Västerås is the largest ABB research center with over 200 employees. The research center has principal responsibility for research and development in automation technology and shared responsibility for power technologies.

Uppgifter :

The aim of the thesis is to develop a control framework for four independent steerable wheels, which control the steering rate and velocity of driving wheels.

In particular the tasks are:
• Literature review on planning and control approaches for mobile robots with steerable wheels
• Development of a low-level path planner in MATLAB/Simulink
• Coordination between global path planner and local path planner.
• Implementing the planner on real robotic platform.

Krav:

• Knowledge on planning and control for mobile robots
• Knowledge on path planning and control theory
• Programming skills in C++ and MATLAB/Simulink

• Period: January - June 2019
• Number of credits: 30 ECTS/högskolepoäng(hp)
• One student project is preferable
• Work done mostly on site
