Application Functions Developer – Power System Protection and Control i Västerås

You will be part of Grid Automation Products in Västerås. We are responsible for development, marketing and sales as well as manufacturing of protection and control products for power generation, transmission and sub-transmission network applications. The unit’s product offer includes IED:s in the Relion 670/650 series. The unit also offers services, for example education that enables the customers to obtain maximal benefit from their investment in ABB’s protection and control solutions.

As one of our application functions developers, you will be integrated into our team that locally consists of about 10 skilled and experienced R&D engineers. The group is involved with managing development and maintenance of power system protection and control functions within the global Grid Automation Products technology development.

Your main mission will be development and implementation of state-of-the-art protection algorithms that keep modern power systems running despite on faults and disturbances. This includes being responsible for analyzing challenging cases as well as inventing, implementing and testing new solutions to ensure the high quality and performances for our customers.

You will collaborate with hardware and software developers, project and product managers and ABB research centers worldwide. Since we have close collaboration with our team in India, as well as customers worldwide you will have an opportunity to broaden your network, building a great platform for a sustainable career within ABB.

You hold a master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience. It is a plus if you are experienced and have knowledge of Power Grids Protection and Control functions and C-language coding. Fluent English is mandatory, written and spoken alike, whereas skills in Swedish are qualifying.
