You will be part of Grid Automation Products in Västerås. We are responsible for the development, marketing and sale and manufacturing of products for protection and control for generation, trunk networks and regional network applications. The unit's product offer consists of IEDs in the Relion® 670/650 series. The unit also offers services such as training to ensure customers get the maximum return on their investment in ABB protection and control solutions.

Would you like to become part of a market leading unit for protection and control equipment with suppliers and customers worldwide? As one of our hardware Type Test Engineers, you will be integrated in our team that locally consists of about ten skilled and experienced R&D Test engineers. The group is involved with product, system and type testing during development and maintenance of electronics and mechanics components within the global Grid Automation Products technology development.

Your main mission will be type testing and certification of hardware components and entire embedded system electronics products for Grid Automation. This includes being responsible for the whole chain of events within environmental testing, from specification, planning and execution of product hardware tests, to presentation and follow-up on test results. The tests are to be performed internally in our own R&D lab, as well as at external test facilities. You will be considered as an expert for type testing and certification of our products and thereby you are expected to lead test projects, determine the relevant test scope, and constantly support to develop the teams expertise, infra-structure and supplier landscape in the technical area of testing.

You will collaborate with hardware and software developers, project and product managers and many different functions that are present on-site in Västerås; from Production, to Sales & Marketing, Controlling and HR.

You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. You have at least five years’ work experience, preferably within type testing. We are looking for candidates with a background in testing of electronic products for EMC, Electrical Safety, lifetime and reliability, and harsh environmental conditions, such as climatic and mechanical. In this context, you understand how to determine and apply relevant standards and directives. It is a plus if you are experienced with, and have knowledge of, Power Grids Protection and Control equipment and its functions. Fluency in English is mandatory, written and spoken alike, whereas skills in Swedish are qualifying.

To succeed in this role, you need a creative, proactive and focus-oriented mindset and a solid interest in environmental and functional HW type testing of complex products. Furthermore, you are a team player with strong collaboration and interpersonal skills. Essentially, you enjoy working in a high-paced environment and have the ability to grasp the bigger picture without losing track of the necessary details.
