You will be part of the Business Unit Grid Integration, located in Västerås. Grid & Power Quality Systems (G&PQS) provide operators with more control of existing AC systems by introducing Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices into their power networks. At G&PQS you will aid in creating a more sustainable future by studying the impact of renewables to the power grid. With higher penetration of renewables, power grid operators are confronted with a more unpredictable network in comparison to the past. You will be involved in developing and assessing advanced control functionalities for FACTS systems to address this problem.

The task would include:
• Create suitable test networks using Simulink / Matlab or PSCAD
• Implement and advanced control methodologies
• Study stability of the control methodologies under varying power network conditions

We are looking for you who are studying a university master program within a relevant technical area along with an interest in power electronic controls and power systems. Experience in control design, stability assessment, and programming is positive. We aim to start the thesis in early September.
