Om tjänsten

Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Road transports face increasing societal challenges with respect to emissions, safety, traffic congestion, as well as business challenges related to tightened delivery times and cost constraints. Truck automation, e.g. self-driving trucks, may be utilized to address some of these issues.

A drawback is that self-driving trucks significantly increase technical complexity and thus introduce new challenges in the product development phase. Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is today identified to be a key component to cope with the increasing complexity, particularly in products containing an increased amount of electronics and software. Hence, MBSE is a process related way to master complexity, mainly by developing multiple connected system models that help define, design, and document a product under development.

We are now looking for a PhD candidate within Model-Based Systems Engineering. The research will be performed at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and at Scania in Södertälje.

Objectives

The overall aim of the research project is to develop a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach in order to support the product development of new electric and self-driving trucks, mainly for the specific needs at Scania.
