Staff Engineer – CI Infrastructure i Stockholm

Om tjänsten

The Platform department creates the technology ecosystem that enables Spotify to learn and deliver quickly, while safely and easily scaling to billions of customers, enabling our rapid employee growth around the globe. Our team consists of six organisational units (known as ‘tribes’) that reflect the needs and groupings of our internal customers – from the shared approaches to supporting and aligning the craft and practice of designers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists – to the frameworks, capabilities and tools they need to do their work as effectively, quickly, and safely as possible. We are an amplifier for productivity, quality, and innovation across Spotify.

As a Staff Engineer you will be part of the Client Build squad within the Client Platform tribe. Our mission is to provide a scalable CI-platform with feedback enabling client developers productivity. We serve hundreds of developers with a low latency, high throughput build system enabling productivity while ensuring quality. While Mobile apps is the main focus, our infrastructure also support use-cases for Desktop, Web, Embedded and Backend.

We are looking for someone who can drive development and delivery of the CI infrastructure for Spotify Apps. As a Staff Engineer, you will architect, design, develop, deploy and operate infrastructure that is used by all other engineers at Spotify. You‘ll be a technical leader for a team, leading technical projects from within the team to spanning the entire engineering organisation.

You will grow the team and its customer teams by promoting sound engineering practices, drive work on technical strategy and roadmaps, regularly assess the technical state of teams, advocate for best practices broadly, and give focused support to specific teams as necessary. You will help ensure that our solutions are scalable, sustainable, architecturally sound, and that technical debt is both incurred consciously and repaid in reasonable time. You will also be expected to mentor other engineers as they grow.

What you’ll do
  • Be a technical leader across the teams in the Client Platform in specific and within Spotify in general.

  • Drive technical strategy and vision for the team.

  • Be part of exploring future system design and improving our architecture in a complex domain.

  • Initiate, influence and drive technical projects across teams within Spotify.

  • Work directly with suppliers and partners to influence technical platforms and decisions.

  • Drive, define and teach sound engineering practices within your team.

  • Be a department-level expert in a particular area and the go-to person for solving problems in your domain of expertise.

  • Work in an environment that supports your individual growth.

What we are looking for
  • Have proven experience as a technical leader for a team or department.

  • Have extensive experience working hands-on as a Software Engineer in an agile environment.

  • Have experience in mentoring and supporting peers and engineering teams, fostering best engineering practices.

  • You are passionate about what you do and have a high interest in keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise.

  • You have a deep understanding of how to translate product and business goals into tech.

  • Have a deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms and understand how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions. You are proficient in Java and python.

  • You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high quality code.

  • You are experienced working with modern infrastructure and tools.

  • You believe in teamwork, agile values and leading by example.

  • Experienced with deploying and operating services on Linux.

  • You have experience in identifying, debugging and resolving complex production issues.

You will be working from our awesome offices in central Stockholm. We offer relocation packages if you do not currently live in Sweden.

We are proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better product for our users and our creators. This is something we value deeply and we encourage everyone to come be a part of changing the way the world listens to music.
