You will be part of the power transformers’ Research and development team which is part of the Power Grids division. We are the world's leading supplier of power and automation products, systems and service solutions for the entire value chain from power generation to the transmission and distribution of electricity.

Uppgifter :

We would like to challenge you in delivering an innovative method to calculate the losses of the auxiliary circuit including the leads and the auxiliary winding in a transformer.

In this thesis work you will be looking into developing a method to predict the amount of loss in KWs generated by the auxiliary circuit. The method should be considering the mechanical placement and topology of different components of the circuit in the transformer.

You may need to use 2D/3D FEM magnetic model of different transformers and come up with an innovative solution that estimated the amount of losses generated due to the auxiliary winding circuit. In other words, an equivalent resistance for the circuit.

You will be provided with measurement values and test results to be able to come up and to prove your method.

You will be cooperating in across functional environment with our R&D and design departments.

Problem definition and understanding context:
• understanding the context for the auxiliary circuit
• understanding of the magnetic behaviour of the transformer
• understanding of the resistive measurement testing setup

Technology study and solution selection:
• measurement data available
• magnetic modelling methods available

Solution development and evaluation:
• Mathematical analysis
• Simulations using finite elements method (fem)
• Empirical formulas based on the measurements and statistic
• Comprehensive report providing simplified and detailed calculation method
• The methods should provide an estimation with max 10% deviation form measurements.

Krav:

We are looking for master students specializing in electrical engineering or similar. Preferably with electromagnetic modeling experience.
