Scope
2 students completing 30 credits (20 weeks) each.

This work is targeted for two students that have a good understanding of mechanical design and physics. Knowledge in optics is also a plus.

Background
At Axis Communications, we develop Camera solutions with both passive and active image sensor to lens alignment. Both passive and active alignment have their pros and cons. Passive alignment typically being the most cost effective one, while active, delivering the highest precision.

Goal

• Investigate and find the sources of variation in a passive image sensor to lens alignment system.
• Investigate the limit for how good a passive alignment system can be made.
• Design and build a prototype of a passive alignment optical assembly for the next generation of door stations
