Senior Commissioning Engineer i Ludvika

You will be part of Power Grids and HVDC. ABB’s HVDC unit (High Voltage Direct Current) develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on the global market. The by ABB developed HVDC technology is used to transfer electrical energy over long distances and for power transmission when using undersea cables. HVDC is also used to interconnect power systems. HVDC Light was developed by ABB and is now highly requested on the market. The technology is suitable for power systems where overhead lines cannot be used or where power grids need to be strengthened. HVDC Light is also used for offshore connections of platforms and wind power farms and is a great answer on today’s need for environmentally friendly solutions.

You will be the commissioning lead for a range of medium-to-high-complexity projects in ABB HVDC. Reporting to the line manager Claes Eriksson, you will lead the completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively, in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

• Act as Commissioning manager on our sites globally and lead a team of motivated commissioning engineers.
• Interact with ABB HVDC project sites, clients, other teams and colleagues to ensure that the safety, quality and progress on site related to commissioning is maintained.
• Working with tenders for new projects by estimating cost for personnel and test equipment, develop time schedule, reading customer specifications to develop test plans.
• Commissioning resource planning for projects.
• Develop routines, processes and documentation related to commissioning. Customer clarification discussions and meetings to describe our processes and the strategy we have to control the safety, quality and completion according to time schedule.
• Preparation and handling of quality assurance documentation for projects.
• Preparation and handling of test equipment for commissioning.
• Participate in internal project and design review meetings.
• Act as technical support to commissioning teams on site.

• You have a minimum of Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience from working with commissioning on site and in office with preparation for commissioning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to coach others in the commissioning area.
• Fluency in English and an openness to working internationally, additional language is merit.
• Ability to work according relevant legislations and standards but with a pragmatic and smooth way of working to deliver results in a global environment.
