Thesis: Assessment of cognitive ergonomics for the Airborne Early Warning & Control system

Do you want to conduct a bachelor- or master thesis regarding assessment of mental workload, decision-making, human-computer interaction, work stress and how these relate to the human-system design of our Airborne Early Warning & Control system?

Your role

In the Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) system, the operator needs to perform multiple tasks, use communication tools and simultaneously handle several different applications during a mission. In practice, this means that the operator is exposed to a high mental workload during certain periods of the mission.

In this thesis, you will assess the cognitive ergonomics for the AEW&C operator, such as e.g. mental workload, decision-making, human-computer interaction, work stress and how these relate to the human-system design.

The study shall summarize the cognitive ergonomics in regards to the work of the operator, and also suggest recommendations in how to address any problems detected.

Tasks will include:

·       User interviews

·       User observations

·       Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA)

·       Questionnaire

·       NASA-TLX (Task Load Index)

·       ACTA (Applied Cognitive Task Analysis)
