Scania is transforming from a supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to a supplier of sustainable transport solutions.

We are looking for you that can contribute to the development of electrical machines for heavy electrical vehicles.

Scania Materials Technology have 50 engineers of which 30 % have a PhD. We develop products by contributing with expertise in the product development projects but also by initiating pre-development projects focused on materials.

Your role
Your most important task will be to have the latest knowledge of electrical insulation materials for the electrical machines. The material degradation mechanisms during use is a key competence in the product development process. New knowledge will be gained via internal and external development projects. Knowledge of electrical break down mechanisms and characterisation of insulation materials using partial discharge (PD), dielectric strength (Hipot-testing) and other established methods are required. But you will also take part in the development of new methods to be used in the validation of electric machines for Scania applications.

Moreover, Scania Materials Technology offers an internal laboratory where you are a key asset for carrying out material investigations. A new laboratory for testing of insulation properties will be built up. External laboratories are used when required. No day is the other like!

Your profile
You have completed your PhD or master and have good knowledge of electrical insulation in electrical applications or strongly motivated to acquire such a knowledge. We believe that you have a degree from either of electrical engineering, physics, chemistry or materials technology.

You are driven, curious, and motivated by finding challenges and their solutions. You are also customer-oriented and able to see the big picture. You master English in both speech and writing. Knowledge in Swedish and/or German is a merit but not a requirement. You will represent Scania Materials Technology internally but also externally such as universities, institutes, and suppliers.

Our offer
We offer exciting career opportunities where you develop and maintain the skills needed to meet future challenges. We offer our employees Scania’s own training centre and medical center, apartment rental options, possibility to rent vacation houses through Scania, team activities and the possibility to work with the premium brand in heavy trucks in a truly global environment.
