Om tjänsten
Scania is one of the leading developers of connected and autonomous heavy commercial vehicles. Transitioning from being a manufacturer of heavy trucks, busses and engines to a company with full range sustainable transport solutions for the customer.
To meet the increased information flow between sensors and on board computers Scania are looking to venture into optical signal solutions to reach higher bandwidths.
At Harness Component Design (EPVH) you will be looking for the harness component solution for realising the optical signal in the vehicle. This could be the start of a new optical backbone of communication in heavy vehicles.
You will work together with experienced engineers in different areas at Scania to understand the environment the components will be placed, test methods and requirements. You will be in contact with suppliers to find what is available on the market and what the future holds within heavy commercial vehicles. Additionally we also want you to build a proof of concept harness to show feasibility of modular components.
Target
The outcome shall be an English thesis on the possibilities and challenges of using optical signals in heavy commercial vehicles, in a wide variety of environments, which can be published by the University. It shall also serve as technical report for Traton, thus the companies Scania, MAN, Volkswagen Caminhões e Õnibus and RIO.
Assignment
- Technical report on current state of the technology
- Proof of concept harness built in lab
- Assess if optical signal technology can be realised in heavy commercial vehicles in varied environments and aftermarket workshops
Education
Suitable education could be Master of Science in, Electrical Engineering or Material Engineering
Knowledge in these areas would be beneficial: digital signals, fiber optics, optical materials for light transportation, vibration impact on plastic/glass materials
