You will be part of the Business Unit Grid Integration in Västerås.

At G&PQS you will help to create a more sustainable future! We provide FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) technologies that enable more power and control in the existing grid. This is key technology at the heart of the ongoing energy revolution enabling the rapid integration of renewables.

The increase of available measurements, growth of real time processing capacity and communication means new opportunities in intelligent digital solutions. These can e.g. be used for monitoring and predictive maintenance to increase the reliability of our products, and the overall health of the power network.

• As part of your thesis work, you will be simulating a power electronic converter circuit. The idea is to create a mathematical solution for identifying certain parameters using electrical measurements (e.g. voltage and currents) to estimate the health-state of components.
• Modelling and simulation of power electronic building blocks.
• Assessing different online measurement schemes.
• Post-processing of measurement data, and online parameter identification.
• Developing hardware prototypes and showing proof of concept.

• We are looking for you who are studying a university master program within Electrical Engineering.
• Have knowledge of electrical circuit analysis and control systems.
• Have some experience of microcontroller programming.
• Familiarity with the following items is advantageous: Power electronic circuits (especially modular multilevel converters), Programming of DSPs and/or FPGAs, Optimization algorithms, Applied estimation techniques and PCB design.
