HVDC is a business unit within the Power Grids division. ABB's HVDC unit (High Voltage Direct Current), with headquarters in Ludvika – develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. This ABB developed HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. HVDC is also used to connect power systems.

The Global Procurement and Logistics organization at ABB HVDC is strengthening its ability to perform professionally and add competitive value services within purchasing and logistics. The global PL organization is responsible for an annual purchase of over 800 MUSD, delivers value and service to ABB HVDC’s large infrastructure projects around the world.

• Work cross-functional to ensure the classification of all exported and imported products/software/technology with respect to national export control and customs lists where applicable. Primary responsibility for execution of product classifications.
• Create, implement and maintain written procedures and guidelines for HVDC compliance with export control and sanctions, as well as customs compliance requirements.
• Provide Procurement and Logistics Managers with periodic updates regarding significant changes in export control and customs laws/regulations.
• Provide trade and customs related training to HVDC.
• Ensure effective use of SAP’s Global Trade Services (GTS) compliance and customs modules.
