Senior Developer, Asset Management, Stockholm

We are looking for a senior developer with deep experience of Python programming and architecture to further enhance, develop and maintain the current Fund Reporting systems and data output. We offer the opportunity to combine an interest in finance and IT to support the Nordea Asset Management division.

The role sits within a team of finance and IT experts who strive daily to provide the best fund related data deliveries to the asset management business. The Fund Reporting team is migrating the current fund calculation engine and processes to a new Python based engine build on top of a data warehouse solution developed in MS SQL Server. The operating system on both clients and servers are Microsoft Windows.

About this opportunity

As a member of the Fund Reporting team within Nordea Asset Management Middle Office you will utilize your programming skills to enhance data so that the team can provide the required data to support the business and satisfy our regulators and clients. We expect you to utilise your experience of current programming languages and Datawarehouse methods as you work to create and maintaining amongst others, the data model and data architecture, as well as developing and enhancing code in a CICD setup.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Create and develop a data model and system architecture to maximize the efficiency of data collation, enrichment and transformation
  • Transform business specification into solutions in the Datawarehouse
  • Develop and design new reports to support new reporting requirements and calculations pertaining to the Asset Management industry, especially funds. E.g. Key Figures for reporting and regulatory reporting, ESG such as Carbon Footprint, Cost and Charges
  • Specify and build new internal analysis models
  • Specify and develop new data interfaces
  • Designing and build new elements in the database
  • Support and develop the team in their Python coding capabilities
  • Handling/resolving problems and errors in the production team

The team is a centralized unit of eight employees based in Stockholm which serves stakeholders in all Nordic countries as well as Luxemburg.

To succeed in this role, we feel you should have the following qualification, technical skills and experience:

Qualifications

  • University degree in Engineering/IT/Data Sciences/Finance/Economics or similar
  • Proficiency in English as well as a Nordic language is required

Technical skills

  • Strong programming skills
  • At least 5 years’ experience of Python programming & architecture in a work environment with familiarity with concepts such as;
  • Pandas NumPy/Matplotlib,
  • Unit testing with PyTest or similar
  • SQLAlchemy or similar
  • CICD with Bitbucket and Bamboo or similar concepts.
  • MS SQL Server
  • Microsoft Office skills, MS Excel in particular

Experience

  • Time-series based report development
  • Exposure to the financial industry is an advantage, however, a fundamental knowledge of and strong interest in financial markets as well as the Asset Management industry is expected
  • Knowledge of statistical models used in finance is an advantage
  • Proactive and self-driven with an ability to demonstrate the will/courage to take ownership of assignments
