Core X tribe (part of the Experience mission) is developing and innovating on Spotify’s core consumer experience across iOS and Android, and we are looking for a staff engineer, In this role you will architect, design, develop, deploy & operate apps that are used by millions of users. You‘ll be a technical leader contributing hands-on, but also leading technical projects spanning multiple teams. You will be driving development and delivery, building sound architecture, mentoring & fostering best practices in mobile.
What you’ll do
- Be a technical leader and valued contributor of the Spotify-wide mobile developer communityContribute to the vision and long-term strategy.
- Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and designers to identify and tackle challenging problems, crafting awesome audio sessions for users worldwide.
- Drive the best engineering practices within your team(s) and define and teach these.
- Find ways to spread learning and knowledge sharing across the organization, leveling up our engineering practices and mentoring other engineers.
- Be a department-level expert in a particular area or tribe-level go-to person for solving problems in your domain of expertise.
- Be part of the tribe Technical Steering Group together with other staff engineers working in the tribe, driving technical practices and roadmap for the tribe.
- Be part of Core Surface product area leadership team and driver the technical direction for the product area.
Who you are
- You have 8+ years of experience in engineering.
- You have proven experience as a technical leader for a team or department.
- You have extensive experience working hands-on as a Software Engineer in an agile environment.
- You see yourself as a T-shaped engineer but your major is in mobile (Android, iOS or preferably both).You have experience mentoring and supporting peers and engineering teams, fostering the best engineering practices.
- You possess a deep understanding of how to translate product and business goals into tech.
- You have led technical projects spanning over multiple teams.
- You have several years of working experience as a Software Engineer with Objective-C/ C++ and Swift and/or AndroidYou take initiative in building and shipping high quality code.
- You have experience in identifying, debugging and resolving complex production issues.
- You are passionate about developing products for hundreds of millions of consumers and platforms that are used by hundreds of business users and engineers.
- You are passionate about what you do and have a high interest in keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise.
- You are a great influencer with phenomenal communication skills, you love sharing your knowledge with others and helping them growYou hold a Computer Science background with deep understanding of system design, data structures and algorithms and understand how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions.
