Our Global Online Digital team is now looking for a lead performance test engineer.
Location - Gothenburg

This role is within our Global Online Digital team, which is using digital technologies to reinvent the experience of becoming a Volvo customer. The primary role on the team is to improve the quality through performance engineering and testing. We work in a cross-functional and highly collaborative Agile team. You will actively contribute to building productivity tools & libraries which would help with continuous performance testing as part of the development pipeline. In addition, you will also perform chaos experiments/testing on a distributed system in order to build confidence in the system's capability to withstand turbulent conditions in production.
What you'll do
• You will efficiently work with various profiling tools to identify performance and concurrency bottlenecks in our services.
• Implement and improve sizing and capacity calculators for key applications and communicate performance, load and stress testing goals, priorities, and status.
• Support defining and delivering a Performance Testing Strategy and provide guidance for performance test initiatives that take a true end-to-end focus on ensuring client side, server tiers, database and data integration jobs are performing as expected.
• Review each entire application stack and design, prepare and execute performance test plans to identify performance and scalability issues and understand the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of performance testing and help to promote its value.
• Educate teams on performance testing processes, methodology, performance & scalability and develop automated chaos testing in pre-production systems
• Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning and write tools and libraries which can be used by other QA/DevOps engineers.
You and your skills
Extremely versatile, talented engineer who is eager to get into the nuts and bolts our software applications & infrastructure; improve their reliability, quality and performance; and come up with novel verification methods to measure the improvements. Willing to drive performance features and improvements across the organization.
Experience & educational background
• We believe you have at least 5+ years of experience in performance testing/engineering as well as at least 3+ years of experience developing distributed scalable applications
• Strong coding experience on at least two language from (Javascript/Typescript, Java, Python, C#, Go, Scala).
• Experience in Performance benchmarking of cloud technologies, platform products
• Development Experience in APIs/Micro services
• Expertise with APM Tools (e.g. Splunk, ELK. Sumo Logic) and experience with Performance Testing tools
• Experience in designing chaos experiments using chaos engineering principles.
As a person
We believe you are inspiring, motivating and moving the testing process forward in a positive and driven way. You have good knowledge in systems monitoring, alerting and analytics as well as knowledge of Perl, bash or other scripting languages a plus.
You have good knowledge of building pipelines (you have yourself written different kinds of build pipelines).
You are familiar with infrastructure creation & operation on the AWS or AZURE cloud
Build, deployment and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Travis, Jenkins).
We think you share our passion for technology and software quality and have the desire to work closely with developers, business analysts, Agile leads and other test automation engineers in high collaborative environment to create and prioritize performance testing.
Elastic search (KQL), Kibana, AWS, Azure experience is a plus.
