Background

Electrical Infrastructure ( EI ) delivers wiring system solutions and harnesses for every vehicle produced at VCC. There are electrical systems that build on different voltage levels like 12V, 48V and 400V in the automotive industry, where each voltage level have their own benefits and drawbacks where some systems have reached their limits with a 12V solution. Some 12V systems might benefit from going over to 48V system instead and this could have a major benefit especially for EI. The industry is working towards MOSFET solutions for distribution capabilities and this is mainly done on 12V system today.

Scope

• Identify systems that could benifit going from 12V to 48V.
• Find what 48V solutions exist on the market today and what is being developed for the future.
• Develop a new possible 48V solution for the systems identified. Some key points to investigate:
  • Thermal
  • EMC
  • Filter
  • Hazards
  • MOSFET on 48V impact
• Present benefits and drawbacks with the transition to 48V on these systems and for complete vehicle.
• Evaluate cost impact on the system itself and for EI by going 48V.
• Evaluate climate impact by changing to a 48V system.
   

Do you fit the profile

We are looking for 2 Bachelor students within Mechatronics/Electrical engineering. You are an efficient team player, with great communication skills. You have an analytical approach and a curious mindset. Further you are engaged and take responsibility to your work.

Work can be performed remotely but we request some office based work for collaboration purposes estimated as 1-2 days a week.
 

Duration

• The work will start in  February 2022.

• The duration for this thesis work is 20 weeks.
• 30 ECTS (academic credits) if in agreement with your Thesis Advisor in University
• This thesis will ideally to be conducted by 2 Students working as a team.
