Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides companies of all sizes across all industries with an infrastructure web services platform in the cloud (“cloud computing”). One of the key focus industries for AWS is Industrial Manufacturing and we are looking for experienced manufacturing leaders to help us proactively build AWS capabilities to support Smart Manufacturing.

AWS is seeking a Specialist Solution Architect for Smart Manufacturing to join our Industrial Manufacturing Industry Business Unit (IBU). This leader will be accountable for delivering AWS’s Industrial Manufacturing IBU technology strategy, initiatives, and driving the technical GTM for Smart Manufacturing. This role will will be within the Smart Manufacturing Industrial Manufacturing innovation Unit (IMIU) which own the business development, solutions and GTM for Smart Manufacturing across AWS and will require collaboration across internal teams and a wide set of stakeholders to execute the technical strategy, set the strategic priorities and initiatives, and ensure the organization is delivering upon the goals that will position AWS to best support our industrial manufacturing customer needs for accelerating smart manufacturing.

Specialist Solutions Architects are thought leaders in AWS technology and industry trends who support customer using their subject matter expertise, create and share best practices through white papers, code samples, workshops, user groups and blog posts. As a Specialist Solutions Architect, you will innovate and scale architectural best practices around building and operating Smart Manufacturing workloads by collaborating with customers, developing content and enabling the wider community to adopt the AWS portfolio of services and solutions for Manufacturing customers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to enhance your knowledge around Industrial IoT, Robotics, ML, AI, Analytics and leverage this expertise to guide Manufacturing customers. As a trusted advisor with technical expertise in Industrial Manufacturing (discrete or process), you will share recommendations around security, cost, performance, reliability and operational efficiency to accelerate key projects with our customers. Inside AWS, you are an ambassador of our customers. You will articulate customer needs by synthesizing your observations from customer engagements and market trends around smart manufacturing workloads to inform the roadmap of AWS features and solutions. In this role, your creativity will link technology to tangible solutions, with the opportunity to implement or document cloud-native reference architectures for a variety of use cases. The right candidate will have experience and expertise in both Operational Technology and Manufacturing enterprise applications .

You will possess a technical background that enables you to drive an engagement and interact at the highest levels within our customer teams. You possess the presence and wherewithal to easily communicate the benefits of cloud computing to a variety of technical and business audiences. You also demonstrate the ability to think strategically and long-term about the needs of global businesses, financial implications, and are deeply familiar with complex legacy OT environments, new native digital environments, and with Manufacturing Industry workloads (including PLM, SCM, MES, and ERP) and commercial ISV solutions that support these workloads. Your knowledge of data and how to leverage advanced AI/ML will solve complex Industry challenges. Your understanding of the broad industry ecosystem makes you stand out from your industry peers.

Open to traveling up to 50% domestic and international.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in infrastructure and application architecture, DevOps, or software engineering
  • 5+ years of technical experience with manufacturing operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Manufacturing or related field of study or 12+ years of related work experience
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills (English)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Domain knowledge of Industry 4.0 and Operational Technology.
* Practical experience for system integration delivery and consulting experiences for manufacturing enterprises.
* Strong verbal and written communications skills and hands on skill. (Internal and external meetings, Document preparation, Presentations at external events, etc.)
* Master’s degree preferred
* Enterprise Architecture experience, certifications, and building modern cloud strategies
* Familiar at a hands-on level with AWS technologies key
* Experience architecting Smart Factory workloads
* Understanding of security, risk and compliance frameworks, disaster recovery, high availability architectures, hardware, operating systems and networking connectivity
* Experience architecting large-scale systems integration involving on-premises technology and public cloud platforms.
* High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations, with both technical and non-technical audiences
* Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
* Technical knowledge of enterprise IT, including: global infrastructure, tiered application architectures, desktop virtualization, data center operations, network security, software license management, etc. with ability to go deep on technical aspects to understand current and future customer needs and present AWS technical benefits.
* Technical knowledge of common enterprise application and commercial software used across the Manufacturing industry, including ERP/MRP, Process Control Systems, MES, Industry 4.0 systems and Supply Chain, Sales & Distribution systems.
* Practical experience transforming, designing and implementing Manufacturing systems at scale with an understanding of the financial implications.
* Experience in Agile Project Management, DevOps, ITIL methodology.
* Experience developing solutions and passion for getting hands dirty with code/scripting (e.g., Java, Python, C# / .NET, Node.js).
