Om tjänsten

Company Description

At Bosch, we shape the future by inventing high-quality technologies and services that spark enthusiasm and enrich people’s lives. Our promise to our associates is rock-solid: we grow together, we enjoy our work, and we inspire each other. Join in and feel the difference.

Bosch R&D Center Lund stands for modern development in cutting edge technology in the areas of connectivity, security, mobility solutions and AI. We are growing rapidly and looking for people to join us on our mission to become the Bosch Group’s 1st address for secure connected mobility solutions. We are working on a range of interesting projects, with a particular focus on software development for the automotive industry, electrical bicycles and Internet of Things.

Job Description

Problem statement

Data management in automotive use cases is complex, as well as to understand dependencies and interaction of data flow and service interaction between vehicle and cloud. In the context of highly automated driving development, significant amounts of data need to be processed and the overall service interaction needs to be understood and optimized continuously. Because of the complexity and abstract nature of the interactions within cloud domain systems, sometimes it’s not easy for technical and non-technical audiences to understand the concepts and interactions that lays behind a modern automotive system. The goal of this master’s thesis project is to explore how 3D/VR-based code exploration can assist demonstrating the data flow and service interaction and ease up understanding/dependencies within the complex system.

Proposed solution

The preliminary structure of the project is made up of three parts:

  1. Study an initial phase investigating the state of the art of current data flow visualization based on a platform development project. Understand with system and domain architects the data flow, dependencies, meta-data extraction and developer use cases (such as image extraction for video perception and CNN model training and deployment).
  2. Design a design and implementation phase where an interactive visualization solution, addressing one or more problems identified in the initial phase, is developed in an agile fashion together with the data management development team.
  3. Evaluation an evaluation phase conducting a user study with different stake holder in the data delivery domain, where the developed prototype is evaluated regarding benefits to current practice.

Scope of master thesis project

Two students completing 30 credits each (20 weeks) onsite at the Lund office

Qualifications

In order to be successful in the project with think you are:

  • A student in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar.
  • You should be familiar with VR/software development and have a basic understanding of data management.
